What is the initial Submission Process?
I. Proposal/Abstract Submission Deadline: October 20, 2008
We invite you to submit your Abstract or Proposal. At this point, only a simple Title Page and one-page summary of what the paper will entail is required. Visit our Paper Guidelines for examples of both an Abstract and a Title Page. Once you have completed these files, e-mail them as Microsoft Word documents to Review@BusEconInstitute.com to begin the review process. *Note* If your full, complete paper is ready for submission you may skip submit your full paper and the complete paper will be initially judged using BEI's Final Publication criteria.

What happens after my initial Submission?
An example submission is followed from initial submission through Journal publication our Process page.

How is my abstract / paper reviewed?
Your Abstract / Paper Submission will be sent to members of our Review Board. These members (mostly tenured PhDs and some Associate Professors) will review your submission(s), retaining your anonymity, without consulting one another. They will either (a) approve the submission as-is or (b) deny the validity of the submission's premise. For denied submissions, comments from reviewers are included often leading to eventual acceptance. Depending upon the time of year (Final Exams, Summer Break, and other Holidays) and our busy presenters' schedules, authors receive feedback in 3 - 10 business days.

Tell me about the Conference Proceedings and what are the Proceedings Submission details?
II. Submission to Conference Proceedings Deadline: November 3, 2008
The Conference Proceedings publishes full, accepted papers via CD-ROM and is distributed at the Conference (unless presenting in Absentia). The Conference Proceedings details are on the Journals page and the Proceedings Submission process is found on the Process page.

What do I need to do to be considered for Proceedings (via CD-ROM) and/or Journal (in hardcopy) publication?
All of the following criteria must be satisfied to be considered for publication:
(a) Final Submission Deadlines for publication in Conference Proceedings or a refereed BEI Journal were met, including all Paper Guidelines formatting, etc.
(b) Reviewers recommended the Final Paper for Publication
(c) Registration process fulfilled, including on-time payment of Registration Fees or inclusion of Late Fee
(d) Paper Presentation at a Business Economics Institute International Conference (in Absentia is acceptable)
(e) Approval of Editor
*** Once a paper is accepted for publication in either the Proceedings or a Journal, the paper is concurrently accepted for publication in BOTH mediums, depending on the author's preference. Additional fees will apply for publication in both mediums. ***

How do I complete the Registration Process?
III. Registration and Fee(s) Deadline: November 10, 2008
The Registration materials for the Conference may be found on our Registration page. Registration simply entails sending in the completed Registration Form (via e-mail, fax, or post) and submitting all applicable Registration Fees by:
- major Credit Card via PayPal* or Google Checkout* (includes Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover)
- eCheck via PayPal*
- Bank Transfer
- Business / University Check
- Personal Check from US Residents

At least one author must be registered to present the paper at a BEI Conference in order to publish in either the Conference Proceedings or a refereed BEI Journal (papers may be presented in Absentia, if necessary).

* PayPal and Google Checkout may require signing up for an easy, free, secure account depending upon your country. Many countries do not need to establish a new account. All fees may be paid via PayPal while only Registration Fees may be paid via Google Checkout.

Why do I have to sign up for a PayPal or Google Checkout account to pay by Credit Card or eCheck?
Our credit card merchants determine which countries must establish an account. In order to keep our Registration Fee(s) attainable, given many companies' and universities' budget restraints, we have opted for these free merchants. You are not required to pay any additional fees to pay by either merchant and still have the security of paying through these safe, secure methods.

What's included in the Registration Fee(s)?
Tangible items included in the fee:
- One copy of the Conference Proceedings on CD-ROM (delivered at the Conference)

- All Business Economics Institute Conference Meeting Rooms
- Use of Presentation Materials, including Projector and Screen
- Coffee Breaks

- Original Receipt
- Misc. materials (Name Badge, Schedule of Events, etc.)

- Winning Keno Numbers :)
If there is an item that you are still unsure about, please e-mail us at Info@BusEconInstitute.com

When is the Schedule of Events sent?
The Schedule of Events is disseminated via e-mail approximately four weeks before the conference begins. You may see a sample format of the events (w/o specific presentations scheduled) on the Conference page. Items on this sample are subject to change, as needed.

How do I request a certain Date & Time for my Presentation?
We appreciate those authors who are flexible in their schedules and discourage scheduling requests as it is very difficult to grant these requests while maintaining discussion groups by Paper Topic. If you must have a specific day for your Presentation (due to conflicting travel or work schedules only), requests for specific Days & Times (Morning, Mid-day, or Afternoon) will be given priority by Registration completion date.

What materials do I need to bring for my Presentation?
You will have the opportunity to present your paper among your peers in a group setting. Presentations are grouped by Paper Topic (found on the Conference and Registration pages) so that comments are most valuable to all authors present. Your Registration includes entry to as many (or as few) presentations as you like. You will be provided with a projector and screen in case you would like to use PowerPoint/Video. A laptop will be available, however we suggest you supply your own so that you are sure it will be compatible with your presentation. As a backup, please provide ten sets of printed materials so others may follow along with your presentation.

Tell me about the refereed BEI Journal(s) and what are the Journal Submission details?

IV. Submission to a refereed BEI Journal Deadline: Jan. 17, 2009
The refereed BEI Journals publish full, accepted papers in hardcopy and are distributed after the Journal Submission Deadline. The Journal details are on the Journals page and the Journal Submission process is found on the Process page.

I can't attend the conference. May I present my paper in Absentia?
Authors may present their paper(s) in Absentia when they are not able to attend the conference physically. In most cases, in Absentia presentations are allowed for those authors who are unable to travel from their locations abroad, either due to delayed Visa applications or lack of funding from their university. In Absentia presenters must register for the conference and fulfill all other expectations as authors who are able to attend the conference. No scholarships are available through BEI and you may refer to the Registration page for any applicable discounts. Discounts outside of those mentioned will not be granted.

I need a Visitor Visa to visit the Conference Location. What help do you provide for me?
An Acceptance Letter is e-mailed to the author indicated as the correspondence contact on the Title Page (in the case of multiple authors). The Acceptance Letter includes an invitation to present the paper at one of the Business Economics Institute's upcoming International Conferences as well as detailing further Registration instructions. This document is a high-quality scan, personalized on letterhead, and signed by one of our Program Chairpersons. For authors foreign to the host nation of the Conference, this is the document you will use to obtain your Visitor Visa, if required. No original documents will be air-mailed and the Business Economics Institute will not contact an embassy on your behalf. All travel arrangements are solely the responsibility of the attendee(s).

My country is not supported through PayPal and Google Checkout. What choices do I have to complete Registration?
We have had several attendees from countries who are not yet supported in the PayPal system (i.e.- Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, etc.) who have attended recent conferences. The methods of payment they used have included (all payments to be in $US):
a. Bank Check - Obtain a certified Cashier's Check, Bank Check, or Money Order and send to:
Business Economics Institute
353A S. Mountain Ave., Suite 133
Upland, CA 91786 - USA
b. Contact a Colleague or Family member in the USA or other PayPal-supported country and have them pay the Registration Fee(s) on your behalf. Please have them state your Name and Paper Number when submitting payment. You may then pay the individual back (or one of their family members, etc.) according to whatever terms you arrange.
c. Electronic Bank Transfer - This method is not available to those countries with higher-than-average fraud rates and details may be given only upon request. This method is rarely used and we recommend you plan on alternate means of satisfying the Registration Fee(s).
